Leaning on Music

“I've found that no matter what life throws at me, music softens the blow.”― Bryce W. Anderson

By Nathan Green

Today, I am thankful.

As the world around us continues to deal with an unthinkable pandemic, I’m thankful, first and foremost, for the health of my loved ones and myself.

But, now more than ever, I’m deeply grateful for the gift of music.

As far back as I can remember, music has been a constant in my life. Whether it’s while I’m driving to work, taking a jog or cooking on my grill, music is there in some form or fashion.

Music can confirm or deny every emotion you have. It can take your energy on a course of reflection, anger, happiness, and sadness all within a few songs, or even a couple of notes. In uncertain times, music can be the one distraction that keeps you positive and looking toward tomorrow.

As I look toward tomorrow I am comforted that music will be with us every step of the way! As you have seen via social media people are using music to bring us together.

Whether it is people singing together on patios in Italy, orchestras playing Beethoven in unison, or famous artists playing song sets and taking requests from home, we have all come to understand that we as a species are in this together. And the things that bring us together such as music far outweigh our differences.

I guess it goes without saying that music is more than business to me. It’s in my blood. And in times like these, I’m leaning on music even more than usual.

As Bryce Anderson says so eloquently in the quote above, “music softens the blow.” Apparently, Bryce and I aren’t alone.

So, as we continue to “social distance” and count the hours, days and weeks until we’re all grooving to a beat once again at a live concert or at our favorite restaurant or casino, let’s all lean on the power of music to help us get through to the other side.

As a famous English poet once said, “Life seems to go on without effort when I am filled with music.”

Amen to that.

BY NATHAN GREEN, CEO, NEW LEVEL RADIO After years of building New Level Radio from the ground up, I’ve learned something that may be surprising: Success rarely comes from selling. It comes from showing up — especially for others. People say, “It’s all about who you know.” But I’ve found it’s more about how you show up for the people you know — and the people you’re about to meet. Some of the most meaningful growth we’ve had at New Level Radio didn’t come from chasing deals. It came from helping others, even when it didn’t immediately benefit us. When we launched New Level Radio, we were a small startup with big ideas — customizing in-store music and messaging programs for businesses that aligned with a brand’s identity. But we didn’t have a marketing budget or a sales team spanning the country. What we did have were people we knew, and people we were willing to meet.
